DIY Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub
My favorite time of year cannot arrive soon enough for me. Fall is coming in just one month, and I am more than ready! It’s never a little early for Fall posts.
For me, Fall is such a beautiful time of year. The temperatures cool down, leaves change color, and we slow down a bit. Also, I’m drawn to everything pumpkin spice.
First up is my pumpkin spice sugar scrub.
I probably make a DIY exfoliating scrub every week, and my bathroom is full of natural body scrubs. And I love blending my easy DIY sugar scrub recipes to get the skincare and exfoliation I want. This DIY pumpkin spice sugar scrub recipe is my new favorite.
It only takes a few minutes to make a batch, so why not make two or more batches and make everyone happy. Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub would also be a great craft to make for fall school & church bazaars.
Ingredients for homemade pumpkin spice exfoliating scrub
This pumpkin body scrub is made with brown sugar and coconut oil. Brown sugar acts as a scrubbing agent in the mixture. The molasses contributes a bit of moisture, making it an excellent component for dry skin.
When you massage the sugar grains into your skin, they exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. After rinsing with water, the coconut oil will leave your skin feeling soft and silky. Sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, an AHA that deeply penetrates the skin and dissolves the bonds between skin cells. This process encourages the turnover of cells and results in a fresher, more youthful appearance. Typically, glycolic acid treats sun damage and aging skin, making this scrub a great addition to your skincare routine.
How to choose essential oils for pumpkin spice sugar scrub?
Now, you’ll want to use about 1 tablespoon of pumpkin pie spice for this pumpkin spice scrub. That will give you a pleasant but not overwhelming pumpkin spice fragrance.
But for this easy pumpkin spice sugar scrub recipe, you can also use essential oils. While they aren’t necessary, adding them can turn your body scrub from simply moisturizing to something that addresses what is going on with your skin.
Here are the essential oils for DIY pumpkin spice sugar scrub:
- 2 drops cinnamon leaf
- 1 drop nutmeg
- 1 drop ginger
- 1 drop cardamom
- 1 drop of sweet orange
This pumpkin body scrub smells fantastic, even without essential oils. If you are pregnant, react sensitive to essential oils, or want to use the scrub for small children, make the sugar scrub without essential oils. You will still get an amazing homemade all-natural sugar scrub with pumpkin.
