Why It’s Time to Make Your Own Holiday Sugar Scrub Recipe?
I never buy store-bought sugar scrubs, I make my own. This coffee sugar scrub one is my favorite, but Gingerbread is a close second!
I love sugar scrubs because they exfoliate gently.
The brown sugar and vanilla are a lovely combination.
It’s easy to make your own luxurious sugar scrub in only 5 minutes with a few simple natural ingredients you might already have in your kitchen.
I first started making my own body scrubs (and more beauty DIYs) to avoid harmful substances.
I had converted to natural products to reduce my toxin levels, optimize liver function, and reduce excess chemicals that mimic hormones and so I blamed it on the changes in skincare.
Don’t forget to pin this gingerbread sugar scrub!

Commercial cosmetics (all those luxury and store-bought fancy skincare products) are usually laden with harmful chemicals and preservatives.
Many of them contain hormone disrupters, like Parabens, paraffin, and ETDA to name a few.
I have used only natural, organic, and chemical-free cosmetics for many years. My skin reacts immediately to any kind of disturbance. I’m extremely sensitive to toxins, gluten, and dairy too.
Another reason was to omit all those plastics and packaging.
The third reason was to cut some costs.

What Sugar is Best for Scrubs?
You can choose from three main types of sugar when making homemade sugar scrubs. Personally, I tend to stick with pure cane sugar, with brown sugar coming in second. Pure cane sugar is just right for my skin type, but I encourage you to try the different types to see what works best for your skin type.
Brown Sugar is a natural exfoliate that helps moisturise skin tone. As the main ingredient, our brown sugars make for the perfect addition to your homemade body scrubs.
Pure cane sugar is good for all skin types and contains essential nutrients to feed the skin. It can be used 2 – 3 times per week.
Turbinado sugar (raw) is an excellent addition to body scrubs. The crystals, coarser than those of refined sugar, help exfoliate dead skin cells without the damage that can result from heavy salts or pulverized nut shells or fruit pits, which can have sharp edges.
How to Make a Gingerbread Sugar Scrub

How To Use Sugar Scrubs
The main purpose of a sugar scrub is to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells, revealing new skin. My homemade body scrub recipes are easy to spread on and will leave your skin cleansed, exfoliated, soft, and moisturized.
There are several ways to use the easy sugar scrub recipes. Here are some tips for how to use sugar scrub to exfoliate your skin:
Scoop a small amount of the Gingerbread Sugar Scrub in your hands with a spoon. Scrub all over your hands or feet – or wherever you’d like a little extra softness. Allow your scrub to sit on your skin for 3-4 minutes. Enjoy this time to rest and relax. Rinse well, and then pat dry with a soft towel.
Be careful while using your sugar scrubs on your feet while in the shower. The oils contained in scrubs can make your feet slippery.
Shower: Exfoliating in the shower is the best way to exfoliate your entire body. Wet your skin with warm water. Then massage small amounts of scrub on your skin. Rinse off with plenty of water.
How often should you use a sugar scrub?
Use DIY sugar scrub recipes 2-3 times per week. If you use more, you can irritate your skin. However, if you have sensitive or thin skin, limit a good buffing to once a week.
How to store the sugar scrub recipes?
At room temperature, a homemade sugar scrub will last at least one to two months in an airtight container, like a mason jar with a lid. If you don’t use it, just store it in the fridge. Refrigerated, DIY sugar scrubs can last up to six months.
