I’ve loved roses ever since my granny took care of our small rose garden on the seaside. Roses are still there; now, I’m in charge. When I started my natural skincare journey, I used fresh rose flowers to make my own DIY rose toner. Since then, this has become a must in my daily beauty routine.

Benefits of Roses

If you’ve seen my DIY Rose Lotion or Rose Soap Recipe, you know my fixation with roses stems from their many skincare benefits.

According to Healthline, rose oil has medicinal benefits in treating depression, anxiety and stress, as well as stimulating sex drive.

Rose oil can help you restore your skin barrier. Here are some benefits of rose oil for your face.

Soothing irritated skin

Rose essential oil can be a great addition to your beautifying ritual for a glowing and fresh look. Use it well diluted topically to cope with redness and puffiness.

Bye, bye wrinkles

With its ability to restore, heal, and protect the epidermis, rose oil can improve the texture of your skin and reduce fine lines. Get the youthful look you deserve.

Hydrate, hydrate hydrate

If you have dry, sensitive, or dull skin, using rose oil can improve your condition—dilute rose oil with sweet almond or rosehip base oil to deeply nourish your skin. Enjoy a brighter and more radiant complexion.

Rose Petal Sugar Scrub Recipe Ingredients

  • Granulated white sugar
  • Coconut Oil
  • Rose Essential Oil
  • Dried Rose Petals (optional)
  • Pink Mica (optional)
  • Mason Jar or similar glass container

You can use almond or olive oil as a substitute, though the colour and scent of the sugar scrub may change based on the oil base you choose. You can also experiment with making a brown sugar scrub instead of white sugar.

Homemade Rose Sugar Scrub Notes

Ingredients Ratio

Depending on your preference, you can vary the sugar-to-coconut oil ratio for this rose petal sugar scrub recipe. I started with about 200g of sugar and added 70 ml of coconut oil, but you can increase the sugar for a thicker consistency or add more coconut oil as necessary.

This DIY body scrub will leave your dry skin feeling silky smooth. This recipe’s sugar and dried rose petals ensure the scrub exfoliates and moisturises as you rub it on your skin.

Tip: Increase the sugar and rose petals ratio to coconut oil for more exfoliation.

How to Use Your Scrub

This DIY rose petal sugar scrub recipe can be used on the face, hands, feet, or body.

I particularly like to use this to remove dead skin or calluses on my feet or to soothe my hands after a long day.

After applying your scrub, rinse in warm water to remove any excess sugar or lavender pieces.

If you plan on using this as a DIY body scrub, you should increase your batch size by doubling or tripling this recipe. While I used 8-ounce wide-mouth mason jars in my tutorial, any glass jar will work.

Be aware of any allergies to coconut or roses before gifting this to someone. (I always like to include an ingredient list on products like this, just to play it safe.)

Coconut Oil Preparation

Since coconut oil typically comes in solid form, you’ll need to pre-heat the oil in a microwave (about 30 seconds, in 10-second intervals) and keep it at room temperature before mixing it with the remaining ingredients.
